Howard is also producing with Brian Grazer. Production starts at the end of April in Italy. The previous film installment of the Robert Langdon franchise, 2009’s Angels & Demons, based on the first book in the series, grossed $486 million worldwide. They skipped over the third book in Brown’s series, The Lost Symbol, to get to this one.
The cast also includes Irrfan Khan, known in the U.S. for Slumdog Millionaire and Life Of Pi; and Sidse Babett Knudsen, star of the Danish TV series Borgen. Khan will play Harry Sims, also known as The Provost. Omar Sy will play Christoph Bruder. Knudsen will portray Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, head of the World Health Organization. More international castings are planned.
In Inferno, Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia and eventually teams with Brooks, a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s Inferno.
